YBS Products Added to Eco Centre’s “Essentials”
Products from the range of YBS Insulation have recently been introduced into the Chichester branch of Covers where they have gone on display in the merchant’s Eco Centre: increasing choice for customers and bringing a selection of special benefits.
There to check in the first delivery was Eco Centre Manager, Graeme Clements and Guy Fee, the Area Sales Manager for YBS, who has been providing product training for Covers’ staff members. Unlike rigid foam and even compressible glass wool insulation materials, YBS products provide amazing U-values as well as other performance benefits for the thickness of material required, offering significant space savings to both stockists and building specifiers who can cut construction dimensions. As well as all the striking point of sale displays and literature which YBS has created for stockists, Covers is also using space in the next edition of its quarterly publication, Essential Trader, to make customers aware of the new opportunity which awaits them in branch.
Graeme Clements commented: “Here in Chichester and at other Covers branches we make sure clients have the best choice of insulation and other materials available to the industry and the YBS range fits that bill – offering excellent performance and good value for money.
“Our staff are all being trained up by Guy Fee so that they can offer customers sound advice, while YBS Insulation’s own website and technical advisory service are always available to answer more challenging questions in relation to the Building Regulations and other design matters. We anticipate a good working relationship with YBS and wide benefits for our customer base.”
One of the key aspects to products in the YBS range is their control of moisture movement, which helps protect the fabric of the building from issues such as interstitial condensation which can rot timber or promote health problems as results from mould spores.
For its part, YBS SuperQuilt creates an effective vapour control layer to the inside of the wall or roof zone, preventing moisture from the occupied spaces affecting the build-up beyond. Recognised by the NHBC, compliant with Part L of the Building Regulations and holding an Agrement Certificate, SuperQuilt is suitable for both new-build and refurbishment work. It comprises 19 layers including reflective foil, expanded polyethylene and polyester wadding to provide a cost effective and user-friendly alternative to much thicker insulation materials. Installed with a 25mm cavity it controls not just radiated energy, but thermal conduction and convection, while also combating thermal overheating in the summer months. Also very straightforward to install and often favoured for refurbishment applications, ThermaWrap is viewed as ideal for loft improvements. It is produced from multi-layer air bubble film with aluminium bonded on both sides to help keep properties warm in winter and cool in summer. It can be used right around the building envelope including beneath floors.
The Eco Centre has been an integral part of Covers Timber and Builders Merchants’ service to the industry and homeowners since the Christchurch operation opened its doors at Quarry Lane in 2007. Products available to retail and trade customers, six days a week, include air source heat pumps, rainwater harvesting systems and PV panels as well as the selection of eco-friendly insulations.
